Over the past week, 771 Marylanders signed up for a private health policy offered on the state-run exchange, Health Connection, officials said Wednesday.

That brings total to 3,024 people (as of Saturday, Nov. 23), up from 2,253 people (as of Saturday, Nov. 16). That’s the largest weekly gain since the exchange opened, according to officials with the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange, which runs Marylandhealthconnection.gov. During the prior week, 510 people signed up.

Before that, the pace of enrollment was much slower — a total of 1,743 people signed up from Oct. 1 through Nov. 9.

Officials also said Wednesday that 11,493 Marylanders have been found eligible for Medicaid (as of Nov. 23) after submitting their personal information to the exchange.

Technical problems with the website are on-going, but officials are continuing to make improvements, such as with making the exchange accessible to Spanish-speakers.
