Berger Cookies coming back soon?

Listen to this article

The Berger Cookies has been shut down for nearly a month, but the company hopes to begin cranking out the chocolate-coated favorites soon, The Sun reported.

The bakery, located in the Cherry Hill neighborhood, had to stop operating Jan. 31 because it lacked a service license from the city. Berger was working to get its license, and a spokesman for Berger told The Sun: “Our big goal is to reopen for business this week.”

However, the Baltimore City Paper reported that an inspection of the bakery by the federal Food and Drug Administration apparently turned up some kind of issue, because the confirmed it would issue “Form 483” to Berger. From the FDA’s website: “An FDA Form 483 is issued to firm management at the conclusion of an inspection when an investigator(s) has observed any conditions that in their judgment may constitute violations of the Food Drug and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act and related Acts.”

Most fans of the cookies probably thought they disappeared from store shelves because Berger Cookies violated some code for being too delicious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-UpADmVYjU
