DOJ says ‘flawed’ work — not MD resident — led to Reflecting Pool peeling

A flawed installation, not vandalism, caused the liner of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to peel, the Justice Department said, as it dropped its case against a former U.S. Olympian and Bethesda resident.

Former US Olympian pleads not guilty in Reflecting Pool vandalism case

A former U.S. Olympic canoeist pleaded not guilty to vandalizing a portion of the newly renovated Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Among the damage discovered on March 8, 2026, to 18 ICE vehicles at the Wright Road ICE warehouse near Williamsport were scratches and profane messages scratched into many of the damaged SUVs and eight SUVs with punctured tires, according to a Washington County Sheriff's Office report.
