CINDY RADOVIC
Luminis Health J. Kent McNew Family Medical Center
For 35 years, Cindy Radovic has dedicated her career to supporting individuals, families and communities through their mental health journeys, work she continues today as clinical director of Luminis Health J. Kent McNew Family Medical Center. Throughout that time, she has advocated for dignity, access and compassionate care, focusing on creating safe spaces, reducing stigma and ensuring that every person feels heard, respected and supported. She championed mental health awareness long before it was widely discussed, promoting education, early intervention and community engagement.
Radovic describes her career as defined by building mental health programs thoroughly in ways that didn’t exist until she helped envision, design and operationalize them. At Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., she played a major role in developing the inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit, guiding it from concept to a functioning clinical service. She coordinated multidisciplinary teams, built evidence-based care pathways and ensured the unit met safety and regulatory standards.
At Anne Arundel Medical Center, she led the grassroots development of the emergency department mental health space, collaborating with department leadership, clinicians, architects and community partners to design a setting that protects patient dignity, improves safety and reduces boarding times. Radovic also helped design and open a comprehensive mental health campus integrating inpatient psychiatric care, outpatient behavioral health services and substance use treatment. Most recently, she has taken on the challenge of building a new program, shaping its clinical model, staffing structure, workflows and community partnerships.
Beyond program development, Radovic created a community-based teen support group offering early connection outside traditional clinical settings. She educates nursing students at Catholic University and Notre Dame of Maryland, emphasizing trauma-informed, evidence-based care, and serves on the NAMI Board of Directors.
She also counts raising her four adult children among her greatest accomplishments, crediting that experience with shaping the resilience and empathy she brings to her work.
