Lidl to replace Streets Market at Baltimore’s Yard 56

, an international discount grocery retailer with numerous franchises in Maryland, is expected to join a in Southeast as Streets Market is set to close at the end of March.

Lidl US signed a lease with Baltimore-based MCB for 23,000 square feet of retail space at 56, the real estate and development firm announced. The new location marks Baltimore City’s second Lidl store, joining the other site in Northwood Commons shopping center off Loch Raven Boulevard.

Lidl US will join a development featuring a medical office, retail and residential spaces, which includes LA Fitness, Baltimore Medical System, Starbucks Coffee, Panda Express, Chipotle Mexican Grill and more.

“This transition builds on the success of the previous tenancy, strengthens Yard 56’s position in the market, and creates valuable cross-shopping opportunities for all our tenants.”

According to MCB, Lidl replacing Streets Market is a “strategic repositioning” designed to align with the needs of the surrounding community.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Streets Market was founded in 2015. 

It will still operate its Charles Village location at 3117 St. Paul St. and plans to open a 12,000-square-foot store at Reservoir Square, MCB’s mixed-use development in West Baltimore, according to a release.
