Rockville-based law firm Stein Sperling Bennett De Jong Driscoll PC recently announced a leadership transition, naming Mark Schweighofer as its next managing partner.
Schweighofer will succeed Jeff Schwaber, and the transition is set to take effect in November, according to Stein Sperling. In the meantime, Schwaber and Schweighofer will collaborate to ensure a smooth transition.
Schweighofer, a principal in the firm’s business and tax practice groups, counsels business owners, entrepreneurs and organizations faced with tough financial and operational decisions. His practice specializes in mergers and acquisitions, entity structuring, ownership agreements, corporate financings, employee incentive programs and business succession planning.
“Since inception and reflecting the vision of its founders, Stein Sperling has been defined by its people and its relationships,” Schweighofer said.
“I’m honored to step into this role and build upon the strong culture, one rooted in collaboration, mentorship, and exceptional client service.”
Through the leadership transition, Stein Sperling looks to reinforce its strategic priorities, including client service excellence, attorney development and sustainable growth across practice areas, according to a release.
As he prepares to take the helm, Shweighofer expressed gratitude for Schwaber’s unwavering support.
“Jeff has been an extraordinary leader and under his stewardship the firm has developed exceptional talent at all levels,” he said.
“I am grateful for his support and wisdom during the transition and beyond. Our focus remains the same: thoughtful counsel, practical solutions, and continued growth that benefit both our clients and our team. I am excited for our next chapter.”
Schwaber, a trial lawyer recognized on several Power Lists published by The Daily Record, has been involved with Stein Sperling for more than 30 years. He represents companies, locally and nationally, in business, employment, technology, intellectual property and real estate disputes.
According to Stein Sperling, Schwaber will continue to lead the firm’s commercial litigation department.
Along with mentoring and training young attorneys at the firm, Schweighofer advises domestic and international clients on tax-efficient operational structures – representing taxpayers before the IRS in corporate, partnership and individual tax controversies, a Stein Sperling statement says.
“Leadership transitions are defining moments for organizations,” Stein Sperling CEO Tara Mobley said.
“Mark’s leadership and Jeff’s continued involvement provide both continuity and forward momentum. I’m excited to work alongside them as we continue strengthening the firm’s future.”
For nearly 50 years, Stein Sperling has served individuals, families, and businesses in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan region and nationally, providing representation across a range of practice areas.
