Kimberly Prescott, president of Prescott HR, Inc., creates an entrepreneurial environment where employees feel empowered to innovate, share ideas and take ownership of their work. She builds a culture that values both productivity and personal well-being, encouraging team members to set healthy boundaries for sustainable performance. Through fostering trust, open communication and space for creativity, Prescott helps establish a workplace where individuals feel valued, supported and motivated to contribute at their highest level.

Current issues in Maryland, including evolving labor laws and economic pressures on small businesses, have directly impacted Prescott HR’s clients. Many face the challenge of staying compliant while trying to grow in a competitive environment. Prescott has made it a priority to advocate on their behalf, ensuring the small business perspective is acknowledged in key conversations. She has invested in educating and equipping her team with the latest knowledge and resources so they can guide clients with confidence. This approach of external advocacy and internal training allows the organization to stay proactive and continue providing the highest level of support to the businesses it serves.

Prescott believes serving the community is both a responsibility and a privilege, noting that strong communities create strong businesses and leaders. She currently serves as board chair of Leadership Howard County, a commissioner for the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights and president of SHRM Howard County. She is also a board member of both the Greater Baltimore Committee and the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland and actively advocates for small businesses through the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Howard County Chamber. Through these roles, Prescott works to strengthen organizations, mentor future leaders and promote inclusive growth.

“The answer is never ‘no.’ It may be ‘not now’ or ‘not like this’… but it is never ‘no,’” Prescott said. This philosophy allows her to approach challenges with resilience and creativity, supporting others in seeing options where they might only see barriers.
