What inspired the founder(s) to start the company?

Rada and Manuel Machin were inspired to establish The Machin Law Firm LLC, by their deep shared passion for the law and their successful history of collaborating as a husband-and-wife team throughout their legal careers. Having studied for three years together in law school which emphasized public interest, and then passing the bar immediately thereafter together, the pair wished to create a new approach to legal service and bring a boutique, community-based approach for their clients’ benefit.

What were some of the biggest challenges the business faced in its early years? How has the company evolved over time?

Among the biggest challenges we faced in establishing The Machin Law Firm was building recognition in the community, as we are both first-generation lawyers in our families without any inherited networks or outside support. This required us to forge our own connections and relationships through active involvement in the Frederick County and Montgomery County bar associations, relying solely on our dedication, skills, and commitment to personalized client service to earn trust and grow our firm.

How many family members are involved in the business, and what roles do they play?

Two. Both Rada, and Manuel Machin are deeply involved in all facets of running The Machin Law Firm, personally touching every case and interacting with all clients to deliver tailored and compassionate legal services. Both of us are Founding managing partners of the firm; both actively go to court, attend mediations, and manage the business side.

What are the long-term goals for the company?

Our long-term goals for The Machin Law Firm include strategically growing the practice by adding more attorneys and staff, while expanding access to our tailored, community-based legal services throughout Maryland to better serve a wider clientele. One day, we aspire to follow in the footsteps of esteemed members of the bench and continue serving the state we love in even greater capacities.

We envision The Machin Law Firm adapting to future trends and challenges by embracing legal technology for enhanced efficiency and virtual services, continuously updating our expertise on evolving laws and regulations, and strategically expanding our team and reach across Maryland while preserving our boutique, community-focused approach to ensure resilient, personalized client support.

What role does the company play in the local community? Are there community initiatives or causes that the firm supports?

The Machin’s play active roles in the local community by supporting local high school sports programs, hosting/sponsoring community events, and engaging with local bar associations. Rada Machin is a founding member of the Women’s Bar Association chapter in Frederick and Washington Counties, and she served as president of the Young Lawyers Section after long-term board involvement. Manuel Machin provides free legal consultations on estate and divorce matters to assist community members in need.
