Hollenshade’s Auto Service
Hollenshade’s Auto Service has served drivers in the Baltimore metropolitan area for over 80 years from its Towson location. The family-owned and operated auto repair shop holds an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau and ranks as the 17th longest standing business to have earned and maintained accreditation with BBB Greater Maryland.
Lee Hollenshade Jr. opened a Texaco gas station in 1939 at the northwest corner of York Road and Burke Avenue, across from Towson University, where a Starbucks currently sits. C. Lee Hollenshade III worked with his father during the World War II era while attending Loyola High School, from which he graduated in 1944 before joining the Navy. After the war, he returned to the business and eventually inherited the station from his father.
In 1972, Hollenshade’s moved to the corner of Goucher Boulevard and Putty Hill Avenue. The younger Hollenshade had brought two of his four children, Tom and Tim, on board as part-time workers while they were still students. Five years later, the expanding business relocated approximately two miles northeast to 1501 East Joppa Road, where it operates today.
The shop provides vehicle maintenance and repair services with emphasis on accurate diagnosis and quality workmanship delivered by expert staff using proper tooling and factory specifications. The business supports local organizations, charities and initiatives in the greater Towson area, including The Student Support Network, the Archdiocese of Baltimore and the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
