The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore

Cushnir’s journey within the Jewish federation system began as a passionate lay leader and volunteer before he transitioned into professional roles at the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles.
Cushnir acknowledged the challenging landscape facing Jewish communities. He noted there are very difficult days ahead for the Jewish community with surging antisemitism and other potential social service funding challenges. Cushnir said he has been fortunate to work with the entire Associated network of agencies, each of which brings incredible expertise in their fields, to strengthen the community, think about new solutions and make sure they address the challenges they are seeing.
One initiative was launching The Associated’s Center for Countering Antisemitism and Hate, which focuses on four key areas: education, security, coalition building and countering misinformation.
Cushnir uses his influence to strengthen Maryland through comprehensive community support. He said The Associated is proud to be part of the fabric of the Greater Baltimore community.
Cushnir explained he has used his influence through The Associated to strengthen Maryland through work supporting older adults, expanding access to mental health care, helping individuals achieve financial stability and creating opportunities that spark Jewish engagement. He also believes that by creating allyships across communities through the new Center for Countering Antisemitism and Hate, they will bring people together to build understanding and mutual respect.
