Prince George’s Community College

Ranel previously served as Equal Employment Opportunity Administrator and Title IX Coordinator at Prince George’s County Public Schools from 2022 to 2023, where she led the Equity Assurance Office for one of the nation’s largest school districts. Her work centered on addressing racism, sexism, ableism and other forms of bias that may affect over 130,000 students and 20,000 employees through addressing formal complaints. From 2019 to 2022, she served as director of student policy and Title IX coordinator at KIPP DC Public Charter Schools.
From 2017 to 2019, she worked as an associate county attorney in the Child Abuse and Neglect Unit at Prince George’s County Office of Law, where she handled over 500 abuse, neglect and guardianship cases, advocating for the safety and best interests of children and elders. She developed internal policies, trained professionals and collaborated across agencies to ensure trauma-informed, legally sound outcomes.
At Prince George’s Community College, Ranel recruited and trained the institution’s first Title IX/sexual misconduct prevention team, revised their sexual misconduct policy to better protect employees and students, including creating the institution’s pregnant and parenting student policy, and oversees the college’s policies to ensure compliance and reflect best practices.
“My greatest professional accomplishment is recruiting 30 PGCC employees—voluntarily and without compensation—to join the Title IX/sexual misconduct prevention resolution pool, enhancing our capacity to address sexual misconduct allegations and fosters a culture of awareness, accountability and safety,” Ranel said.
Through the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association, Ranel created the association’s mentorship program, connecting over 30 attorneys and law students, chaired the scholarship committee, awarding scholarships to 10 deserving students, and successfully raised $40,000 as scholarship banquet chair.
