Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing & The Collective NP Clinic

Ashley Fenton, DNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C, LCSW-C, serves as assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and is the founder of The Collective NP Clinic LLC. With extensive credentials spanning psychiatric and family nurse practitioner certifications, plus licensed clinical social work, Fenton has established herself as a leader in integrated mental health and primary care.

“Over the past two years I have worked extremely hard to build my practice with a focus on improving access to care and health outcomes for individuals with mental health conditions,” Fenton stated.

Fenton held positions at Johns Hopkins Hospital, University of Maryland Integrated Care Clinic and Modyfi Telehealth & Wellness Clinic before she launched her own practice in 2022. Her academic preparation is equally impressive: She earned multiple degrees from Johns Hopkins University, including an Executive Doctor of Nursing Practice and post-graduate certification as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Her research focuses on improving health outcomes for people with mental illness, and in particular addresses cardiovascular and metabolic risks. She has published articles in the Journal for Nurse Practitioners and other scholarly outlets.

Fenton has been recognized with several honors, including being named a 2023 Leading Nursing Forward Cohen Scholar and receiving the National Health Service Corps Scholarship from 2017-2021. She maintains active memberships in professional organizations including the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Her teaching responsibilities at Johns Hopkins are extensive; she serves as course coordinator for multiple clinical practicum courses across family nurse practitioner and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner programs.

“This work has also carried over to academia through my role as assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. I currently teach in both the primary and mental health doctorate of nursing practice programs and act as a site mentor for numerous doctoral students,” Fenton said.

Fenton’s commitment to mentorship is also evident through her role as site mentor for multiple doctoral students at The Collective NP Clinic, supporting projects ranging from medication literacy enhancement to development of digital mental health resources.
