DeCaires has overseen high-profile events like AFRAM, Charm City Live! and Artscape. She has also produced grand openings for major Maryland restaurants and fundraisers for prominent political figures. Her work extends beyond Maryland, as she manages community programming and fundraising for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament.
“My mantra for my company has always been to work with companies that are making an impact in the community,” DeCaires said. This philosophy drives her commitment to creating opportunities for small businesses, particularly those owned by women and minorities.
Under DeCaires’ leadership, Sonjé Productions has experienced significant growth. The company saw a 60% revenue increase from 2022 to 2023, with net income rising by $600,000 in the same period. This success has allowed DeCaires to expand her team to 15+ contributors.
DeCaires’ impact extends beyond her own company. She actively mentors new CEOs, sharing her experiences to help them navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship. Her innovative approach is evident in initiatives like the tech summit she created as part of CIAA Week, highlighting young, minority leaders in the tech space.
