CASH Campaign of Maryland
Robin McKinney MSW, co-founder and CEO of CASH Campaign of Maryland, has dedicated her career to empowering low-income individuals through financial education and advocacy. With a master of social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, McKinney has been at the forefront of financial literacy initiatives in Maryland for over two decades.
Under McKinney’s leadership, CASH Campaign has grown from a small coalition to a statewide organization serving thousands of Marylanders annually. The organization’s free tax preparation services have expanded to nearly 50 sites across 14 counties, returning over $25 million in refunds to low-income workers each year. McKinney has also spearheaded innovative programs like the Maryland CASH Academy, which provides free financial education to 6,000 to 13,000 participants annually.
McKinney’s impact extends beyond direct services. She has built a robust policy advocacy program that tracks over 150 bills annually and has successfully championed legislation to protect and support low-income Marylanders.
A respected voice in her field, McKinney is also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work, sharing her expertise with the next generation of social workers.
McKinney’s leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration and transparency. “We really leaned into the shared leadership model to navigate through COVID and the various economic recessions,” she said. “It allowed for every part of the organization to be considered and included in conversations.”
