Instructional Leadership Executive Director, Baltimore City Public Schools

Dr. Taiisha Swinton-Buck says her primary goal is to provide life-changing opportunities and essential resources to the youth of Baltimore.

Swinton-Buck was named Principal of the Year by the Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals in 2021. In her three years as principal of Digital Harbor High School in Baltimore, Swinton-Buck set records for attendance and graduation rates, according to news reports.

Now, as executive director of Instructional Leadership for Baltimore City Public Schools, Swinton-Buck said, “I am fully aware that their futures rely on the impact of my work. I take great pride in being an innovative and inspiring leader dedicated to fostering growth and driving positive change.”Swinton-Buck said she does this by emphasizing the importance of collaborative work and shifting minds.

“By encouraging a collective focus, we worked together to bridge gaps and leverage the strengths within our community,” she wrote.

Swinton-Buck considers her doctorate in education from Drexel University and receiving an honorary doctorate from Susquehanna University as her greatest achievements.

“They demonstrate my commitment to service, my dedication to education, and my determination to foster social justice. These accomplishments undoubtedly inspire others and pave the way for further achievements in my future endeavors,” she said.
