After working in the education field as a private tutor, home school instructor, adjunct professor and college access case manager, Linnita Hosten started Excellence Brainery, an organization that provides college and career coaching to minority high school students.
The Hyattsville-based business has a team of curriculum writers and part-time student coaches and offers in-person and virtual workshops and group coaching.
“My most significant professional accomplishment is cultivating a team to independently create a career and education planning curriculum for high school students, and partnering with Prince George’s County Public Schools and national nonprofits to facilitate and/or license the learning material,” Hosten said.
Hosten earned her bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Towson University and a master’s in nonprofit management and association leadership from the University of Maryland, University College.
“My personal motto is excellence in everything, every time,” she said. “This sets me apart because I am always aiming to give distinctive value from the highest quality possible. It’s not an aim for perfection but rather an ongoing competition to be a better me today than I was yesterday.”
