Can office vacancy rate predict Super Bowl winner?

Researchers at are predicting a victory by the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl.

But they aren’t using a complicated statistical analysis to pick a winner between the Broncos and Carolina Panthers who play Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. They’re not even using the experience of JLL Americas chairman and Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach.

Their method for predicting the outcome is based on one a single factor: Which competing city has the highest office vacancy rate? According to a news release, since JLL started making these predictions in 2011 the team from a city with the higher vacancy rate won 60 percent of the time.

So, with Denver posting a 13.1 percent vacancy rate and Charlotte sporting a 12.1 percent vacancy rate JLL researchers are picking the Broncos.

Before making a big bet based off this system, keep in mind the football experts and Las Vegas bookmakers favor the Panthers.
