I am happy to report the Maryland Law Help app, designed and produced by the Maryland Judiciary, is now available on iTunes.

Although the target audience of the app appears to be the ever-growing numbers of self-represented litigants who are tackling cases of all shapes and sizes across Maryland, make no mistake that seasoned lawyers, newly-admitted lawyers and lawyers somewhere in between can all benefit from the information on the app.

The app has a link to a mobile-friendly version of the People’s Law Library of Maryland, which contains volumes of hornbook-level legal information in non-legalese spanning nearly every area of law.

The app has links to mobile-friendly versions of the free Lexis and Westlaw volumes of the Maryland Annotated Code and the Maryland Rules of Procedure. While these volumes are not annotated, they are good for quick citation checks. Plus, you may be relieved of stuffing the Maryland Rules and one or two volumes of the Maryland Annotated Code into your briefcase for a relatively simple hearing.

The app features a directory of courts by county so that you can find addresses of all of the courthouses within a particular county and call when you need to tell them that you’ve gotten lost and are running late.

There is plenty of other helpful material on the Maryland Law Help app, so download it for yourself. It does not take up much memory on your phone and is yet another tool in the attorney’s mobile toolbox.
