Architecture panel set to review Light Street tower, again
Questar’s proposed 44-story tower overlooking the Inner Harbor is scheduled to appear before Baltimore‘s Urban Design and Architecture Review Panel on Thursday.
The building increased in size from 372 to 382 apartments and by one story between its initial appearance before the panel in April and its previous panel review in August. The proposed 500-foot-tall building isn’t expected to increase in height again because of added mechanical expenses when a building exceeds that height.
The Tower would be one of the tallest buildings in Baltimore but would not be the highest. That distinction belongs to the 529-foot Transamerica Tower. Steven Gorn, CEO of Questar, has previously said the project is aggressively moving through the design review process so that it could possibly break ground by late this year or early next year.
Although panelists praised the initial plans for the tower they were more critical of the design presented in August.
“You’re playing games you don’t need to play. You have a beautiful building,” panelist Rich Burns said at the time.
