Stevenson Univ. gets largest gift ever

Stevenson University said it received the largest private gift in its history, a $2 million donation from the Women’s Hospital Foundation Inc., of Baltimore.

The private, liberal arts university in Baltimore County will use the gift to establish the Women’s Hospital Foundation Distinguished Professorship in Nursing, its first fully endowed faculty position.

Cindy Crawley, president of the board of Women’s Hospital Foundation, said Stevenson University was selected to receive the gift “because of their vibrant nursing program and the number and quality of highly trained undergraduate and graduate level nursing professionals they are educating each year.”

The school said it will begin a search in the fall to fill the distinguished professorship position.
