Maryland for Responsive Government, a business-focused research and education group, is urging Gov. Marvin O’Malley to form a blue-ribbon commission to study and present an overall strategy to improve Maryland’s business climate.

MBRG said the commission members would represent business, labor, education, nonprofits and state government, and focus specifically on improving conditions for the manufacturing, health care, cybersecurity and biotechnology sectors. Recommendations would be presented to the 2015 session, MBRG said.

The issue “is too important to wait, and too complicated to avoid bringing all voices and interests collectively to the table …,” said Jerry Wit, a senior marketing executive with St. John Properties Inc., who was recently named MBRG chairman.
