Female general counsels make significantly less compared to men in the same position, according to a new survey.

While women earned an average of  $575,200 as general counsels in 2012, men brought in almost $150,000 more annually, with an average of $723,700 in total cash .

The survey, done by ALM Legal Intelligence, also found women in positions brought in bonuses 40 percent lower than their male counterparts.
