Columbia-based Fortress International narrows loss

Fortress International Group Inc., of Columbia, a provider of consulting and engineering, construction management and site services for mission-critical facilities, cut its first-quarter loss to $23,000, or zero cents per diluted share, from 2012’s loss of $1.3 million, or 9 cents per diluted share, in the year-ago period.

Revenue fell slightly, to $14.1 million from $14.3 million in the first quarter of 2012.

The company said a contract that it has (through a subsidiary) to deliver batteries, storage and charging services to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority brought in $5 million during the quarter. Revenue from other sources declined, the company said.
