Prosecutor says agreement reached in Alston case

ANNAPOLIS — Maryland’s state prosecutor says a verbal has been reached to settle cases involving a lawmaker accused of using campaign funds to pay for wedding expenses and using state money to pay an employee in her private .

State Prosecutor Emmet Davitt said Friday he was limited in what he could say now about the agreement involving , D-Prince George’s. He’s describing it as “a total resolution” of the two cases.

Attorneys discussed the agreement without elaborating on details during a court hearing Thursday.

Another hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Alston was convicted in June of using about $800 in state money to pay an employee in her law firm. A trial had been scheduled for next month on the case involving her wedding expenses.
