Elected officials began arriving in Ocean City Wednesday for the annual Maryland Association of Counties summer conference, including several state lawmakers fresh off a grueling, post-midnight finish to the state’s second special legislative session this year.

I’m at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center with those officials for the next two days.

But while I’m soaking up the sun on the beach … uh, I mean, attending seminars and workshops … here’s what else is going on in state government:

MarylandReporter.com reports on the federal and Maryland DREAM Act. The Maryland law, allowing undocumented immigrant students brought to the country as children to receive in-state tuition at state universities, faces a referendum challenge in November.
The Baltimore Sun reports on a technicality in the Senate’s special session proceedings that the minority leader believes was unconstitutional.
The Associated Press reports that the a federal bankruptcy judge has approved the sale of assets of RG Steel, which owns Sparrows Point steel mill. The mill laid off about 2,000 employees this summer after idling operations.
