Smelcer named CEO of MED Cloud
Tim Smelcer has been named president and CEO of MED Cloud, a medical technology company providing electronic medical record solutions to physician medical practices, ranging from small- to large-group practices of all sizes. MED Cloud has partnered with GE Healthcare to provide GE Centricity Practice Solution (CPS) in “the cloud” as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution to the region that includes Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
MED Cloud is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business. As a U.S. Air Force veteran with more than 20 years of IT experience, Smelcer is also the founder of and continues as president and CEO of RedBird Technology.
Smelcer is a graduate of Towson University with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He was chosen as one of the Top Ten Chief Information Officers in Maryland by Smart CEO Magazine when he served as CIO for Hodes, Pessin and Katz.
The MED Cloud EMR service allows medical practices to utilize CPS and all its capabilities at a fraction of the cost without investing hundreds of thousands of dollars to install software and hardware in their offices. For a small monthly fee, practices can now afford an extremely powerful and robust EMR system to boost profitability and patient care services. On a hospital level, the GE Centricity Practice Solution system is used, for example, by Johns Hopkins Hospital.
