HAGERSTOWN — The defense attorney for an Army intelligence analyst suspected to leaking classified information to WikiLeaks is focusing on the soldier’s mental state.

A list of 48 prospective defense witnesses released Saturday by attorney David Coombs includes 15 who would testify at a Dec. 16 hearing about Pfc. Bradley Manning’s mental, emotional or behavioral issues.

The prospective witness list also includes President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton but military justice experts say they are unlikely to be subpoenaed.

Manning is charged with 22 counts, including aiding the enemy. The hearing next week at Fort Meade is to determine whether he will be court-martialed.
