Redistricting special session begins

ANNAPOLIS — A on congressional in is getting started.

Gov. , a Democrat, is holding a news conference Monday morning to discuss the session, along with House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller.

The session has been called for lawmakers to approve a new map for the state’s eight congressional seats.

The Democratic-controlled is scheduled to convene for a short session at 11:30 a.m. Then, a hearing on redistricting plans will start at 1 p.m. The hearing is expected to last the rest of the day and possibly into the evening.

The special session is not expected to last more than several days.
