Serial rapist from Hagerstown charged in 1998 case

HAGERSTOWN — A man convicted of sexually assaulting four women in two states while sometimes wearing a mask made from duct tape faces a new rape charge.

An indictment charging 40-year-old Pov Srun with first-degree rape in the attack of a woman near Smithsburg in 1998 was filed Friday in . His arraignment is set for June 30.

Prosecutors say his matches evidence found on the woman’s clothing. They allege he forced the victim at knifepoint to drive to a ball field, where he raped her.

Srun is serving 35 years in for 2006 convictions of second-degree rape and first-degree sexual offense in Montgomery County.

He faces at least 34 and a half more years in Pennsylvania for raping two women in Franklin County, Pa., in 2004.
