O’Malley pushes wind in final days of session

ANNAPOLIS — Gov. is working to wrest free his wind bill from a pair legislative panels in the final days of the 2011 session.

The ‘s proposal to mandate that state utilities buy generated by turbines planned for construction 12 miles off the coast of has run into concerns from that it would cost ratepayers too much money.

O’Malley’s energy team — including the heads of the Public Service Commission and the Maryland Energy Administration — took questions from members of the Senate Finance Committee Wednesday.

Lawmakers are five days from the end of session, with many of the governor’s top priorities — including the wind bill — still awaiting decisions.
