Little Italy’s once-vibrant Boccaccio Restaurant, is up on the auction block after being closed for more than a year.
Giovanni Rigato opened Boccaccio in 1992, but the upscale establishment closed shortly after he died in August 2008.
The auction is set for Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. and will be run by A. J. Billig & Co. Included is the 9,000-square-foot building on Eastern Avenue, a 20-car parking lot, fully equipped restaurant and a seven-day liquor license.
Rigato named his restaurant after the 14th century author Giovanni Boccaccio.
